Since training with and starting my teaching career with Teach First in 2010, I've always been motivated to tackle educational disadvantage and raise aspirations and attainment in every classroom. I firmly believe that breaking down barriers to learning alongside consistent high-quality teaching and a rich learning environment can create incredible opportunities for children to achieve their full potential and have the most enjoyable and rewarding primary experience.
I am a double-first graduate, a trained KS2 Class Teacher and Teach First ambassador with a Masters in Leadership. I have experience as Subject Co-ordinator, Phase Leader and then Assistant Head in two different Outstanding inner-city primary schools. I have mentored NQTs and Teach First teachers and continue to work as an Associate Tutor for new participants in the Teach First programme.
I specialise in upper KS2, particularly teaching in preparation for the Year 6 SATS. I must confess that I consider myself to be a bit of a 'SPAG geek' and enjoy working with children to improve their understanding of correct spoken and written English in a fun and engaging way.
I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle, cycling to work, strength training at the gym, participating in triathlons and walking in the countryside with friends and family. More recently, I've challenged myself with yoga and palates to gain a new perspective on overall health and well-being.
