I am a creative person and I enjoy making my classroom a creative learning environment which will engage and inspire the children that I teach. Both in school and out of school, I love to try and learn new things. The use of technology is an area that really motivates me and I love to use technology in the classroom to engage, inspire and support learning.
In my 8 years of teaching, I have taught year 4, year 6 and year 2. I am currently teaching in year 2 at St Martin’s CE Primary School which is one of TT Education’s Centres of Excellence. I have worked as a leader of learning where I supported others and shared good practice. Currently I am phase one leader and I lead Maths and Computing in the school. I have been a mentor for Schools Direct students and I enjoyed supporting others that are starting out in teaching.
I enjoy teaching all subjects and I especially enjoy making learning cross curricular so that children can see links in different areas. Maths and Computing are both subjects that I particularly enjoy teaching. In role as lead in Maths, I have led staff training on the teaching and assessment of Maths. I am particularly interested in the use of technology in the class room and the use of augmented reality to engage learning.
Outside of work, I love spending time at the stables with my horse and taking her for hacks around the beautiful Kent countryside. I also enjoy keeping fit and I spend lots of my time at Crossfit where I love the community of support and encouragement to help me improve my strength and fitness. Travelling is something that I have always loved doing especially Asia. I spent three months teaching in a school in India which made me really interested in the way children learn in different environments.
